Active Release Techniques

Dr. Taylor adjusting patientActive Release Techniques® is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fascitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and often permanently with ART.

Many cumulative trauma injuries occurring on the athletic field or in the workplace can be resolved using the 500 protocols unique to ART. A typical visit is part diagnosis (identifying where the adhesion or soft-tissue lesion is) and treatment (freeing the adhesion or nerve entrapment). This type of therapy has become the “gold standard” for treating injuries in the athletic community and for workplace injuries

Graston Technique

We are pleased to provide patients with an innovative and proven approach to the diagnosis and treatment of connective soft tissue injuries – Graston Technique.  The Technique is performed with patented stainless-steel instruments designed to detect and treat soft-tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation in order to reduce pain and restore function. When connective tissue, such as muscle, ligaments, or tendons become restricted or scarred, it can result in pain, tenderness, loss of flexibility and motion.

It is not unusual to find a restriction in one part of the body that produces pain and dysfunction in another area, commonly known as the kinetic chain.Strengthening and stretching are combined with the Graston Technique to restore the patient to their pre-injury level of activity.

Manipulation and Mobilization

Chiropractors utilize manipulation and mobilization techniques to improve joint movement, reduce pain and restore muscle tone. Many times when a Manipulation is done there is a “popping” or “cracking” sound, that is caused by the release of gases from the joint. Many people feel less pain and increased relaxation from these procedures.

Manipulation and mobilization techniques are used at Taylor Sport Chiropractic when they are best suited to resolve the patients condition. Not all patients will need these procedures, and it will be up to the Doctor to decide whether or not they are necessary.

Acupuncture Needles

Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning. This is done by inserting needles and applying heat or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points.

Acupuncture has been successfully incorporated into medical or allied health practices in Western countries. It is derived from Asian and European sources, and is practiced in both pure and hybrid forms. Therapeutic insertion of solid needles in various combinations and patterns is the foundation of medical acupuncture.

The choice of needle patterns can be based on traditional principles such as encouraging the flow of qi (pronounced chee), a subtle vivifying energy, through classically described acupuncture channels, modern concepts such as recruiting neuroanatomical activities in segmental distributions, or a combination of these two principles.

The adaptability of classical and hybrid acupuncture approaches in Western medical environments is the key to their clinical success and popular appeal.
